Proud!
Proudly I present to you the pattern of the beach umbrella in Ibiza Style…!
Gosh, how little I did know! In preparation for our Crochet Trip to Spain, I got the special request from our hostess Teddy of Finca la Vida Loca to bring along a pattern of a crocheted beach parasol. No bother I thought, Pinterest is surely full of them. Er yes. With pictures. Not patterns. In all shapes and sizes, and most importantly, priceless (€1,000 for a crocheted beach umbrella in this version, is no exception)…. And don’t get me wrong, I think the latter is completely justified. Because gee, what handiwork…. And as crafters among ourselves, we know what that means ;-))…!
Of nothing….
So sleeves up and get to work! It took me a month and a half. A month of crocheting, pulling out and starting all over again. From 3 steps forward and sometimes 2, sometimes 3 back. From finished, to one more trial crochet. With the end goal, that it will now take you much less time than me ;-). I also realised during the process, that it is also unique; working out the pattern of the much-coveted Ibiza Style Parasol. Because how cool that it doesn’t exist yet!
To something…
Hence my pride, behold the created pattern of the crocheted umbrealla! The crochet pattern of the umbrella exists! I worked on it with a lot of love and precision. Because I realize very well, it has to be done right! Besides, when something is so much work and having cost money, you want credit for your work. Believe me, you get that. And lots of compliments! Because let’s face it, a crocheted parasol like that in your garden, it makes you stand out!
If you ask yourself, nice, but where can I find the frame? I advise you, scour marketplace, Facebook marketplace and thrift shops. You are going to find an inexpensive one. Ór maybe the cloth of your current parasol needs replacing and you hook it over your existing frame! Just make sure the cloth is removable. This is not the case with some smaller models.
The pattern goes up to a maximum diameter of 3 metres. You can easily reduce the pattern to a parasol with a smaller diameter. The pattern also explains how to do this. There are also many illustrative photos in the pattern and you will receive a link to the YouTube film about the finishing touch when you buy the parasol.
